They played a vital spiritual and cultural role in the lives of the Igbo people after the Biafran civil war. Their music, which included powerful songs like Jisie Obi Ike and Obi Nwanne, offered a rare light of hope, helping to keep “Ndi Igbo” sane during a time of struggle. They were a source of immense pride for a people traumatized by the war’s devastating pangs.
