If you grew up in Eastern Nigeria during the 1980s and 1990s, you would likely be familiar with her work, an exciting mix of highlife sounds and flute that made Egedege music famous.
Formed in 1985, the Egedege Dance is among the leading traditional dance groups in South-Eastern Nigeria. It is an Igbo royal style of cultural dance that has developed from an ancient youth moonlight dance into a modernized contemporary trend, including songs, dance, instrumentation, and colorful traditional outfits. “Okwute Nmili” is a testament to Queen Theresa Onuorah’s zeal in preserving and celebrating Igbo cultural heritage through music and dance.
