Oriental Brothers

Biography: Oriental Brothers International Band
The Oriental Brothers International Band was a legendary Nigerian highlife group that emerged in the early 1970s in Owerri, following the end of the Biafran War. They quickly rose to prominence with a unique and influential sound that masterfully blended Congolese guitar riffs with traditional Igbo rhythms. The band’s music became more than just entertainment; it was a powerful source of hope and identity for the Igbo people during a period of rebuilding.
While the band’s lineup evolved over time due to various internal disputes, several key figures defined its sound and legacy. These included founding members Godwin “Kabaka” Opara, Ferdinand “Dan-Satch” Opara, and Christogonus “Dr. Sir Warrior” Obinna. Among them, “Dr. Sir Warrior” became the most iconic lead vocalist, and his unique style helped to solidify the band’s status as highlife legends.
